Council of Ukrainian, Lithuanian presidents to meet for 6th time in February

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara and Lithuanian Ambassador to Ukraine Petras Vaitiekunas have discussed the preparations for the official visit of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to Lithuania.

The sixth meeting of the Council of Presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania will take place during Yanukovych's visit to Lithuania, the Foreign Ministry's press service reported on Monday.

The two officials also discussed the issues of the Ukrainian-Lithuanian cooperation, first of all practical measures to promote the bilateral political dialogue.

During the meeting, they also spoke about the practical support by Lithuania of Ukraine's plans to join the EU, taking into account, in particular, the upcoming presidency of Lithuania of the EU Council in the second half of 2013.

As reported, the Ukrainian president will make an official visit to Vilnius on February 6, Chief Adviser to the Lithuanian President Daiva Ulbinaite reported on January 25.

She said that during the visit much attention will be paid to the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit due in November in Lithuania, during which Ukraine hopes to sign the Association Agreement with the EU.
