Law enforcement officers are still operating in enhanced security mode in Ukraine, according to the public relations department of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, 68 public events involving more than 28,000 citizens are scheduled for January 2.
On January 1, 425 public events took place in Ukraine. More than 200,000 people took part in the events.
The largest number of people took part in festivities held in Dnipropetrovsk region (95,000 people took part in 30 events), Cherkasy region (over 23,000 people), Chernivtsi region (almost 22,000) and Kyiv region (over 17,300)
There have been no gross violations of public order during the mass events, the police said. Some 5,500 were policing the streets during these events.
