An explosion resulting in a fire occurred during the illegal extraction of coal in a closed mine ran by the Almazna colliery group at the village of Trubne, Luhansk region.
At least five people were killed in the accident, Interfax-Ukraine learned from the authorities of the village of Vakhrushevo, which is located not far from the mine.
The explosion occurred at about 0800 on Sunday.
The coal industry ministry's emergency rescue service brigades have been involved in search and rescue operations. An investigation has been launched into the accident.
