On Monday, August 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and British Prime Minister Andy Burnham signed a "Joint Statement of Intent between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Ukraine on the Ukrainian-British Partnership in the Field of Artificial Intelligence," according to an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent.
"I am very pleased that you decided to visit our country, especially today, on this most important day – our Independence Day," Zelenskyy said during a meeting with Burnham in Kyiv.
The president also thanked the United Kingdom for its financial and military support. "Thank you for all the support your country, your government, and His Majesty have provided throughout this past year," Zelenskyy said.
For his part, Burnham reaffirmed his unwavering support, emphasizing that he felt it was important to make his first overseas visit as prime minister to Ukraine.
The British prime minister said it has been an honor to be with Ukrainians today. He said Great Britain will stand with Ukraine until the very end.
