Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom and former commander-in-chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces Valeriy Zaluzhny congratulated British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who arrived in Kyiv on Independence Day. This is the British prime minister’s first international visit in that post.
"He and his cabinet have already expressed full support for our country in these difficult times. The strategic partnership with Britain continues to develop, and the 100-Year Partnership Agreement is being filled with real substance — in defense, the economy, technology, humanitarian affairs and other areas," Zaluzhny wrote on Facebook.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the United Kingdom has provided Ukraine with more than GBP 25 billion in assistance. London has been actively helping strengthen Ukraine’s air defense by supplying air defense systems, missiles and automated guns for intercepting drones. In addition, about 63,000 Ukrainian service members have already completed training in the United Kingdom.
The two sides are currently organizing joint technology production, cooperating in the field of drones and robotic systems, and have signed a memorandum on developing cooperation between Ukraine and the United Kingdom in space.
"Once again, thank you to the United Kingdom, His Majesty the King, the government and all British people for their effective support of Ukraine. Special thanks to Prime Minister Andy Burnham for visiting Kyiv on this date, so symbolic for Ukrainians," Zaluzhny said.
