President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the extraordinary role of the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex in defending Ukraine’s independence and specifically mentioned Ukrainian-produced FP-5 ("Flamingo") cruise missiles in the context of the winter military confrontation with Russia.
"In reality, our defense-industrial complex today is a giant forging Independence 24/7. With tens of millions of FPVs and shells. But even this is not enough, and we must do more. Tens of thousands of ground robotic systems carry out ultra-dangerous missions on the front line and have already saved thousands of soldiers. But we must do more. Our naval drones are in action: the enemy had a fleet, now it is turning to scrap. But we must sink more. Our mid-strikes cut their logistics. Our long-range capability cuts their profits. Moscow, Tuapse, Tula, Ryazan, Olenya, Omsk, and dozens of other points have already seen thousands of our deep strikes where our Ukrainian justice has reached. Russia needs to see more of such justice. ‘Flamingos’ should not be a rare species, but a mass-produced ‘bird.’ They must ‘winter’ in Russia," Zelenskyy said in a greeting to the citizens of Ukraine on Independence Day on Monday morning.
At the same time, he noted that the Ukrainian side sees "what the Russian leadership is doing and what it wants." "A solution against its ballistic terror must be found, and this bet of theirs must not pay off… Ukraine is doing everything for this. And will do it. Because it has already proven more than once: our stubbornness is beyond their caliber," the President emphasized.
Zelenskyy stressed that he is proud of Ukrainians "who every morning find the strength to rise, to do, to do what you can, to be where you must," mentioning both service members and workers in a number of civilian professions.
