Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha thanked the German side for providing EUR 65 billion in aid since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
He made these remarks at a joint press conference with his German counterpart Johann Wadephul in Kyiv.
"Germany is the undisputed leader in supporting Ukraine – militarily, energetically, financially, and humanitarianly. The total amount of aid since the start of the full-scale invasion has reached EUR 65 billion. We are very grateful. This support has not only saved thousands of Ukrainian lives but also helped protect peace and stability on the European continent," Sybiha said.
He highlighted the Patriot, IRIS-T, and Gepard systems, as well as other German equipment that saves the lives of Ukrainians every day. The foreign minister expressed gratitude for the significant contribution to the PURL initiative for the procurement of U.S. weapons, specifically the provision of four packages totaling over $900 million, as well as assistance to Ukraine in sourcing and purchasing interceptors from third countries.
"We particularly appreciate your participation in the Anti-Ballistic Missile Coalition. This is about the joint defense of our cities and people. It’s about Europe’s self-sufficiency," Sybiha said.
He also noted that Germany was the first country with which Ukraine began joint drone production, and this cooperation is successfully expanding, particularly in the production of the Linza strike drone and the Termit ground drone.
According to Sybiha, they discussed in detail Ukraine’s preparations for the winter, the protection of energy infrastructure against Russian attacks, and the provision of additional equipment and resources.
"Germany helped us get through last winter, and today, following our discussion, I am confident that we can count on their support this winter as well," Sybiha said.
