On the night of August 22, the enemy attacked Ukraine with missiles, as well as "Banderole" loitering munitions and 217 strike UAVs; three missiles, six "Banderole," and 182 UAVs were shot down or neutralized; strikes were recorded at 41 locations, and debris from downed missiles was found at 12 locations, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
"On the night of August 22 (beginning at 06:00 on August 21), the enemy attacked Ukraine with missiles that follow a ballistic trajectory – including Iskander-M, S-400, three Kh-31P/Kh-59 air-to-ground missiles from Kursk, Bryansk, and Belgorod regions, as well as from airspace over the Black Sea. It also used ‘Banderole’ loitering munitions and 217 Shahed-type strike UAVs (more than 50 of which were jet-powered), Gerber UAVs, and Parodiya-type decoy drones from the following directions: Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russia; the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk; and Hvardiyske – temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea," according to a Saturday post on the Telegram channel.
The main targets of the attack were Kyiv and Odesa regions. The air attack was repelled by the Ukrainian Air Force, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
"According to preliminary data, as of 09:00, air defense forces shot down or neutralized three Kh-31P/Kh-59 air-to-ground missiles, six ‘Banderole’ loitering munitions, as well as 182 enemy UAVs of the Shahed and Gerber types and other types of drones in the north, south, east, and center of the country. Enemy airstrikes were recorded at 41 locations, and debris from downed targets was found at 12 locations," the Air Force said.
