Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha expects that on Independence Day, August 24, additional aid packages will be announced by partners visiting Ukraine.
"August 24. We are expecting guests – distinguished guests. This has already been mentioned and announced. We expect there to be additional bilateral aid packages. And it is very important, aside from this, you know, material and logistical aspect, to show the world our unity. The 35th anniversary of our independence... We are not alone; we are not isolated. That is something I can also say firmly and clearly," he said during a media briefing at the United 24 event on Friday.
The minister also said he actively advocates for high-ranking officials to visit the regions during their trips to Kyiv.
"And lately, these have truly been visits of courage; I greatly appreciate that. Belgian Foreign Minister Prévot visited Chernihiv region. He didn't just pay a visit. A decision has been made to support the blood center, and there is support for the completion of certain shelters for our school. Well, that's about 50 million in additional aid, and I'm grateful for that," the foreign minister said.
In addition, Sybiha recalled that UN Deputy Secretary-General Tom Fletcher visited Kherson this week. "And yesterday we discussed with him how we can assist with humanitarian corridors to specifically help people in Oleshky and other settlements near that area," the minister said.
He said Ukrainian diplomacy faces many challenges, and the diplomatic corps is ready and will work actively.
"I am also preparing additional steps for the president to strengthen the practical dimension of our foreign policy – maximizing pragmatism and economic efficiency," Sybiha said.
Earlier, it was reported that the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing will convene for a meeting on Ukraine's Independence Day, August 24.
Later, on August 24, European Council President António Costa will take part in a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing to be held in Kyiv.
