Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had a phone conversation with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and informed him "about the ongoing Russian strikes and the numerous casualties among ordinary civilians."
"The UN Secretary-General condemned these massive Russian attacks on Kyiv and our other cities and communities," Zelenskyy said on Telegram on Friday evening.
"We discussed the threats posed by Russian strikes to food security, as well as the ongoing shelling of port infrastructure and ships by Russia," he added, noting that the effects are already being felt in many countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, and prices have begun to rise.
"But despite the fact that the Russian side rejects all proposals to sit down at the negotiating table, we must do everything possible to end this war. We agreed that the search for solutions will continue and that the UN will join our joint efforts," the president said.
