Chairman of Kyiv Security Forum (KSF) and Prime Minister of Ukraine in 2014–2016 Arseniy Yatsenyuk proposes including representatives of political forces in the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) and having government members renounce participation in upcoming elections.
"I will allow myself to propose the idea that the key body of the Ukrainian state, chaired by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the President of Ukraine — the National Security and Defense Council — should include representatives of all political forces in order to share political responsibility for making all decisions in the country," Yatsenyuk said during the national round table "Unity Around the Flag" under the auspices of KSF on Friday.
The politician also suggested that government officials declare a lack of political ambitions and a waiver of participation in future elections.
"Separately, I would like to address the government: whether of national unity or salvation. I consider this a government of war. And so that Ukrainian officials do not think about upcoming Ukrainian elections, which will happen only in the event of victory in the war, I believe members of the government should politically declare their lack of political ambition and that they will not run for the next parliament of the country. This will make it easier for them to make decisions aimed at the country’s victory," Yatsenyuk emphasized.
He also stressed the need to adopt an action plan for the government for 12 months, so that parliament would have the opportunity to ask what has been done by each member of the government who is not a politician, but a statesman.
