Ukraine needs a government of national unity rather than elections during the war, Kyiv Security Forum (KSF) chairman and former Ukrainian Prime Minister (2014-2016) Arseniy Yatseniuk said.
"I think we need a government of national unity, where the people trust the authorities and the authorities take care of their people, and its goal is to win the war. There is discussion about elections. It’s legally impossible to hold elections," Yatseniuk said at the KSF-hosted national roundtable "Unity Around the Flag" on Friday.
He said it’s impossible to hold fair, transparent, democratic elections during a war, and that thoughts about winning an election could lead to losing the war, so the war must be won first.
