The Consular Section of the Embassy of Peru in the Russian Federation provided assistance and facilitated the repatriation of two more Peruvians who avoided forced recruitment into service in the war against Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Peru reports.
"These young men joined two other Peruvians who were assisted at the end of July by the Consular Section of the Embassy of Peru in the Russian Federation. All of them have arrived in Peru and are currently with their families," the report states.
In total, as of today, the MFA of Peru has successfully evacuated 31 Peruvian citizens from the Russian Federation, 28 of whom have returned to their homeland, while three remain in European countries by their own choice.
It is also officially reported that 459 Peruvians entered service in the ranks of the Russian army, with 11 confirmed dead, 114 considered missing, and three captured by the Ukrainian army.
"The public is warned not to be deceived by false job offers, as they could fall victim to human trafficking networks. Serving in the military of any foreign state requires prior permission from the Government of Peru, in accordance with the Constitution. In addition, citizens are urged to report recruiters to the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police of Peru. Affected family members and their fellow citizens can contact consular sections," the MFA of Peru reported.
