The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) on Sunday helped eliminate the consequences of Russian attacks in Kharkiv and Zhytomyr.
"In Kharkiv, the rapid response team of the Ukrainian Red Cross was working at the site of the strike from the very first minutes together with the SES of Ukraine and other emergency services," URCS reported on Facebook.
Volunteers joined search and rescue operations, conducted rounds of the areas and damaged houses, helped unblock people from under the rubble, and evacuated victims from the damaged building. Volunteers also provided first aid and psychological support to victims and handed them over to medics. A K9 unit of the URCS squad was involved in the search and rescue operations.
Currently, a Ukrainian Red Cross support station is operating on-site, where humanitarian aid and construction materials for the primary restoration of damaged homes are being issued to victims. People can also receive psychological support, drink tea or water, and have a snack.
The team of the URCS rapid response unit in Zhytomyr region also worked at the sites of the aftermath of the enemy night attack on Zhytomyr. Volunteers, in cooperation with other special services, conducted rounds of the area and provided first aid and psychological first aid to people in a state of acute stress response.
According to the SES of Ukraine, as a result of the Russian attack on the Saltivka district of Kharkiv, one person was killed and at least 27 were injured, including a child. Floors between the seventh and tenth levels of a 10-story residential building were destroyed, and a fire broke out.
In Zhytomyr region, 3 people were injured as a result of the attack: one was hospitalized with burns, and two others were diagnosed with an acute stress response. As a result of the strike, fires broke out at civil infrastructure facilities and a private enterprise, and a private residential house was also damaged.
