In order to increase the safety of the educational process in frontline communities, 840 mobile shelters will be installed, Minister for Communities, Territories and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Vitaliy Bezhin announced during the Congressional Hearings at the venue of the Office of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine.
"The most urgent issue is the safety of children. Therefore, laying out the school route must take into account logic where next to the bus stop, along the road, and near the school, a place for protection must be thought through. For this purpose, it is planned to install 840 mobile shelters. We are uniting the capabilities of the regions; rear regions are becoming partners with frontline ones and helping with financing. Such an approach will make it possible to cover needs faster where people live with the risk of shelling every day," Bezhin noted.
He reported that the total cost of the project, which will cover 56,000 children, is about UAH 1.4 billion; the decision on allocating funds should be adopted as soon as possible.
The project will be implemented by combining the resources of the state, regions, and communities, while rear regions will join in financing the needs of frontline territories.
The Office of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Health, regional military administrations, local self-government bodies, and communities will work together on implementation.
The Congressional Hearings at the venue of the Office of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine took place on August 8 with the participation of the leadership of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, MPs, representatives of communities, Regional Military Administrations, local self-government bodies, and regional councils–over 1,770 participants in total.
