The production of anti-ballistic missiles for the Patriot SAM system is lagging and will continue to lag behind Russia’s production of ballistic missiles; the best weapon against ballistics is striking the launchers, believes former Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov.
"The best weapon is to strike directly at the launchers immediately with our own ballistic missile. And the Russians must understand that a few minutes after launch, the entire crew launching the missile must die from our ballistic missile… – a 90% guaranteed death," he said in a stream on the YouTube channel of his former adviser and volunteer Serhiy Sternenko.
Fedorov reported that on the day of his dismissal in mid-July, a state project was tested that had been under development for 10 years prior but could not reach a proper result due to an incorrect technical assignment, lack of a sufficient team, and other problems.
"We tested it quite successfully, hitting the target virtually without any deviation from course – a direct hit by a ballistic missile. Therefore, now this exercise needs to be finished, everything required must be fully tested, and combat use must begin," noted the ex-head of the Ministry of Defense.
He added that several ballistic missile production consortia are needed to ensure competition.
"The future belongs to cheap missiles, very cheap missiles. And later, integrated with artificial intelligence," Fedorov added.
According to him, in parallel, many different operations must also be conducted that cannot be discussed publicly, but which are aimed at delaying Russian missile launches and obtaining additional anti-ballistic missiles from partners.
