Zelenskyy: Person responsible for water supply situation in Marhanets to be fired
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the person responsible will be dismissed due to an inadequate response to the water supply problem in Marhanets and other cities in Dnipropetrovsk region.
"It is also important that the prime minister has made the necessary decisions regarding Marhanets and other cities in Dnipropetrovsk region. The disgraceful situation was caused by the lack of water there and a very slow response at the regional level – from the agencies responsible for water supply. The person responsible will be dismissed," Zelenskyy said in an evening video address on Thursday.
The president expressed hope that regional and local authorities will respond more promptly to people's needs.
"I expect that regional and local authorities will stay on their toes and respond much more quickly to people's needs. Wartime is a time for working 24/7," he said.
Zelenskyy also reported that the government has already adopted the first decisions from a support package for farmers who have suffered as a result of Russian strikes on Ukrainian ports and the maritime corridor, and that work is continuing in Kherson to restore power following Russian shelling.
As previously reported, Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky ordered urgent measures to accelerate repairs to the main water pipeline in order to ensure a water supply for residents of Marhanets in Dnipropetrovsk region.
"Marhanets and the surrounding communities have been without drinking water for several days now. This is the result of an accident on the main water pipeline, as well as an incomplete and untimely response from the responsible officials. Severe conclusions will be drawn in the near future," Koretsky said on his Telegram channel.
