Head of the MFA of Ukraine Andriy Sybiha stated that Kyiv wants to restore the pre-war volume of bilateral trade turnover with Azerbaijan, which has currently reached around 600 million dollars.
As reported by an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent, Sybiha said this at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.
"We set a goal to reach the pre-war period, speaking of trade turnover. Currently, we have reached around 600 million dollars," said the head of the agency.
In this context, the heads of diplomacy agreed to work on holding the next meeting of the bilateral Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Ukraine.
The parties held detailed negotiations regarding the bilateral and international agenda, Ukraine’s preparations for the winter period, and strengthening energy security in the region.
"Over the past and current year, we have seen a new dynamics of strategic partnership between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, as well as intensified contacts at all levels. We view your visit as another element of this new and positive dynamics," noted the Ukrainian diplomat.
The parties paid special attention to the development of mutually beneficial economic, investment, and humanitarian cooperation. Sybiha stated that Ukraine values investments from Azerbaijani companies and counts on the expansion of their presence and the implementation of new joint projects.
The diplomats also discussed regional security issues in the South Caucasus and the Middle East. Andrii Sybiha informed his Azerbaijani counterpart about Ukraine’s peace efforts and noted the important role of Azerbaijan in promoting peace and ensuring regional stability.
"We value Azerbaijan’s principled position in support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Ukraine has also always supported and continues to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. This is a constant of our relations," emphasized the Head of the MFA of Ukraine.
Sybiha expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev, and the entire Azerbaijani people for providing assistance to Ukraine since the first days of the full-scale invasion.
"Restoration of civil infrastructure in Irpin, humanitarian aid, equipment for energy facilities, and much more. We will always remember this," he assured.
