The Antonov State Enterprise needs some $300 million for technical re-equipment over the next five years, President and General Designer of Antonov State Enterprise Dmytro Kiva has said.
"We really need technical re-equipment for mass production, we are losing out in the economics [of production]," he said at a roundtable on the development of Ukraine's aircraft engineering in Kyiv on Friday.
He said the issue of the re-equipment of the aircraft industry and its modernization is a topic that requires frank discussion and practical solutions, so as to preserve the competitive position of Ukrainian aircraft manufacturing in its global market niche – the development and production of regional and transport aircraft.
"In terms of design work, we are trying to maintain [our competitive level]," he said, noting that Antonov was expanding cooperation, including with partners from Russia, India, China, and Europe.
