The Aviakon Aircraft Repair Plant (Konotop, Sumy region) will conduct major overhaul of five Mi-8 multi-purpose helicopters for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The work will be carried out under the contract worth UAH 60 million with the Defense Ministry of Ukraine signed in September following a tender, according to the government procurement Web site.
During the overhaul, the helicopters will be supplied with the necessary equipment so that they meet the UN and ICAO standards.
Aviakon provides for the overhaul, refurbishment, and re-equipment of Mi helicopters of all types.
The Mi-8 (its NATO reporting name is Hip) is a multi-purpose helicopter designed by the Mil design bureau (Russia). The helicopter is equipped with two TV3-117 engines designed by Ivchenko-Progress Enterprise and produced by OJSC Motor Sich engine manufacturer (both based in Zaporizhia).
