Following the death of demining specialists as a result of Russian shelling in Kherson region, the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) emphasizes the need to comply with the norms of international humanitarian law (IHL).
"Humanitarian workers risk their own lives every day to save others, help the civilian population, and make Ukrainian land safer. They must never be a target. The Ukrainian Red Cross once again emphasizes the need to comply with the norms of international humanitarian law," the URCS said in a statement on Facebook on Thursday.
The URCS expressed its condolences to the Norwegian People's Aid Ukraine team, as well as to the families, loved ones, and colleagues of the deceased.
As reported, as a result of Russian shelling in Kherson region on June 24, an employee of the international humanitarian organization Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) was killed, and another deminer died in the hospital after sustaining severe injuries. Three specialists were wounded.
