State budget for 2013 to include funding of physical education for people with disabilities, says Yanukovych

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said that the state budget for 2013 will envisage funds for the development of physical education and sports for people with disabilities, as well as the further development of rehabilitation centers and specialized youth sports schools and the relevant infrastructure.

Yanukovych said this at a ceremony to congratulate the Ukrainian winners and medalists of 14th Summer Paralympics on Monday, the presidential press service reported.

The president said the government, local administrations and organizations of physical education and sports for disabled people would address these issues.

At the same time, the president said that they had done a great deal of work to create new facilities at the main base for athletes – the National Centre for Paralympic and Deaflympic Training and Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons in Yevpatoria, Crimea.

"We will continue working to improve and develop this center," the head of state said.

According to Yanukovych, new facilities are being constructed at the Western Rehabilitation and Sports Centre in Lviv region, in particular a modern swimming pool has nearly been completed.

The president pledged to do his best to continue the development of Paralympic sports.
