Fado is a musical genre native to Portugal. It typically features mournful songs accompanied by classical and/or Portuguese guitar, sometimes with one or more instruments. It is similar in many ways to a romance. Since 2011, fado has been included on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
A trio performed in Kyiv: guitarist Bruno David, Portuguese guitarist Ricardo J. Martins, and vocalist Sara Paixão. The program consisted of the genre's most famous songs. A pleasant surprise at the end of the concert was Sara's performance song of Dmytro Lutsenko and Ihor Shamo's "Kiyve Miy."
The concert was dedicated to Portugal Day, celebrated on June 10th.
