Russian attacks leave part of consumers in four regions without power – Energy Ministry
Russian strikes on energy infrastructure facilities have left some consumers in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Sumy and Kharkiv regions temporarily without electricity, the Ukrainian Energy Ministry said.
According to its Telegram post, energy workers are operating in an enhanced mode to restore electricity supply to all consumers as quickly as possible.
At the same time, the Energy Ministry stressed that overall no electricity restrictions are forecast, but called on consumers to shift active energy consumption to daytime hours – from 10:00 to 16:00. During evening hours it asks consumers to use electricity sparingly where possible from 18:00 to 22:00. "This helps reduce the load on the system," the ministry explained.
The Energy Ministry also reported that overnight the enemy attacked gas extraction facilities in Poltava and Kharkiv regions, where significant equipment damage was recorded, with fatalities and wounded.
"Unfortunately, due to Russia’s treacherous actions, we have losses among colleagues – as a result of combined strikes, three workers at a gas extraction facility were killed and 14 received wounds of varying severity… Also, two State Emergency Service employees were killed while extinguishing the fire and 23 were wounded. Three of them are in serious condition, with medics fighting for their lives," the ministry said.
It expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the killed Naftogaz Ukrainy and State Emergency Service employees.
As reported, five people were killed and 37 wounded in a combined Russian attack on gas extraction facilities in Kharkiv and Poltava regions – these were Naftogaz employees and State Emergency Service workers who had arrived to deal with the aftermath of a previous enemy attack.
Poltava Regional Military Administration head Vitaliy Dyakivnych announced two days of mourning for those killed in Russian strikes on Naftogaz Ukrainy facilities overnight Tuesday.
"May 5 and 6 have been declared days of mourning in Poltava region," he wrote on Telegram.
