Zelenskyy on overnight Russian strikes: Absolute cynicism to ask for silence and strike with missiles
It is absolute cynicism to ask for silence to hold propaganda celebrations while launching missile and drone strikes on every preceding day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, commenting on Russian strikes on Ukraine overnight Tuesday.
"Overnight, Russians attacked energy infrastructure in Poltava region. And very treacherously struck again with a missile when State Emergency Service workers were already on site extinguishing a fire. As of now, dozens of wounded are known. Unfortunately, four people were killed, including two rescuers. These are Hero of Ukraine Viktor Kuzmenko, who responded to the aftermath of strikes more than 50 times, and Dmytro Skryl, who served in the State Emergency Service for more than 20 years. My sincere condolences to their families and loved ones," he wrote on Telegram.
The president noted that energy infrastructure facilities were targeted by the aggressor overnight.
"Russians also struck Kharkiv region. One person was killed, four were wounded. Unfortunately, one was killed. My condolences. In Dnipro region, critical infrastructure was attacked. Three people were wounded in the region. In Pavlohrad, a power line was damaged, leaving thousands of families without electricity. There were also strikes on Zaporizhia and Kyiv regions, where three people were wounded. Overall, the main targets of Russia this night were our energy infrastructure facilities," Zelenskyy wrote.
He stressed that Russia can cease fire every day and this would stop the war.
"Absolute cynicism to ask for silence to hold propaganda celebrations and launch such missile and drone strikes on every preceding day. Every day Russia can cease fire, and this will stop the war and our responses. Peace is needed, and real steps are needed for this. Ukraine will act in kind," the president stressed.
