Russia attacks Naftogaz facilities again, killing 5, injuring 37 – Group head
Three Naftogaz Group employees and two State Emergency Service rescuers were killed in another massive Russian attack on the night of May 4-5, another 37 were injured, and facilities were significantly damaged, according to Serhiy Koretsky, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz Ukrainy.
"Russians have launched a massive attack on Naftogaz Group facilities. Gas production facilities in Poltava and Kharkiv regions have been shelled. There has been significant damage and production losses. Most painfully, there have been casualties among colleagues," Koretsky wrote on Facebook.
He noted that this was a combined UAV and ballistic attack, which resulted in the deaths of three Naftogaz Group employees and two State Emergency Service rescuers, and the injury of another 37 people.
"My sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims. The injured are receiving all necessary medical care," the head of Naftogaz assured.
He added that as soon as the security situation allows, the company will begin assessing the consequences and carrying out restoration work.
As reported, since the beginning of the year, Russia has attacked Naftogaz facilities approximately 100 times.
