CENTCOM refutes reports that IRGC hit US Navy ship with two missiles

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has refuted claims by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that its forces struck a US Navy ship with two missiles. The command stated that no US Navy vessel has been damaged and emphasized that American forces are maintaining Mission Freedom and ensuring a naval blockade of Iranian ports.

Earlier, the Fars news agency, citing sources, reported that Iranian forces had allegedly attacked a US Navy ship near the Iranian coast in the Gulf of Oman as it was heading toward the Strait of Hormuz. According to the report, the ship was hit by two Iranian missiles after allegedly ignoring IRGC warnings to stop. The agency claimed the vessel was violating maritime safety and navigation rules while attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz near the port of Jask.

According to sources cited by the agency, the strikes allegedly prevented the American ship from continuing its course, forcing it to turn back. Previously, the IRGC Navy reported that it had blocked US destroyers from entering the Strait of Hormuz.

According to earlier reports from CENTCOM, the US Navy launched Operation Freedom on Monday to escort merchant vessels stranded in the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz.
