Death toll in Merefa rises to 5 – prosecutor's office

The number of people killed in the missile strike on Merefa in Kharkiv region has risen to five in updated figures.

"Three women and two men were killed. Another 19 people were wounded or suffered acute stress reactions," the Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office press service said.

According to preliminary data from the agency, Russian forces employed a ballistic Iskander missile.

A pre-trial investigation has been opened into a war crime resulting in loss of life (part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Synehubov had previously reported four killed and 18 injured in the Merefa strike, with three of the injured in serious condition.
