Poroshenko discusses AFU support and Ukraine European integration with Croatian Prime Minister
Member of Parliament and leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko met with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic during the International Democrat Union Summit in Zagreb.
Poroshenko welcomed the EU Council decision to unblock a EUR 90 billion loan for Ukraine for 2026–2027 and the adoption of the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.
The parties focused extensively on the situation on the battlefield, the needs of the Ukrainian military, and the importance of sustained allied assistance. They also discussed prospects for the negotiation process and a ceasefire as a first step to confirm Russia's readiness for a genuine, rather than fake, dialogue.
According to Poroshenko, the sides reviewed the results of the informal EU summit in Cyprus, specifically regarding further steps toward Ukraine's EU membership. He emphasized the importance of promptly opening the first negotiation cluster, "Fundamentals," which covers democracy, the rule of law, justice, and the fight against corruption.
