Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky has said he "worked in the area of responsibility of the 11th and 19th Army Corps, which are defending the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk and Kostiantynivka-Druzhkivka agglomerations."

In April, the activity of Russian occupation forces in this sector increased significantly. The enemy is trying to carry out offensive actions there with small infantry groups under the cover of artillery and drones. Since the beginning of this week, the enemy has carried out 83 attacks on the Kostiantynivka axis, the commander-in-chief said on Telegram on Saturday.

"We are repelling constant attempts by Russian occupiers to use infiltration tactics to gain a foothold on the outskirts of Kostiantynivka. A counter-sabotage regime is in place in the city. Ukraine’s Defense Forces are carrying out a set of active measures to detect and destroy the enemy," Syrsky said.

During the working trip, he held meetings with the command staff of the army corps, the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade Edelweiss, and the 81st Separate Airmobile Slobozhanska Brigade of the Air Assault Forces.

"We discussed the current situation, the state of supplies, issues of coordination, as well as commanders’ proposals for detecting and destroying enemy infantry groups. The main focus was on effective counteraction to enemy UAVs, the arrangement of defensive lines and fortifications, and the current needs of units for ammunition and other logistical resources. On the spot, I made a number of operational decisions to improve supplies for Ukrainian defenders," the commander-in-chief said.
