Tourism to be one of priorities in Mykolaiv region's post-war recovery – Kim
Head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Vitaliy Kim highly assesses the prospects for tourism in Mykolaiv region and calls it one of the priorities for the region’s recovery after the war ends.
"As for tourism, it will be one of the priorities of post-war recovery, with military tourism added to recreational tourism," Kim told Interfax-Ukraine, noting that it is already operating in a limited format.
According to the head of the regional administration, tourism was one of the tools for stimulating the economy that he planned to develop before the war.
"We began holding festivals and expanding the tourist season from the usual June-August period to May-September. Now the huge problem is that the sea is closed, which was our advantage, and it will also have to be demined. We have already found how to do this, but we cannot do it now, the military does not allow it," Kim said.
He noted that he has traveled extensively around the world and noticed that "many tourist magnets are worth much less than what Mykolaiv region has: Myhiya, canyons, Maisky Island, and our bison."
"We will definitely create conditions for tourism in Mykolaiv to be unforgettable. Before the war, we worked out a five-year development plan, detailed one-day maps, three-day and seven-day packages, and digital routes. But the main thing for tourism is security. I expect that after the war people will come and that we will realize our potential," Kim said.
