Kim: We also focusing on technical education to train qualified specialists for recovery projects

Head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Vitaliy Kim has announced dual education projects in the region in cooperation with investor companies to train specialists for the implementation of recovery projects.

"We are also now focusing on technical education in order to have qualified specialists for recovery projects. We have been to Denmark and Germany and looked at how educational institutions are opened at the request of business," Kim told Interfax-Ukraine.

Asked whether this means a focus on dual education, he replied: "Absolutely! We are working in these areas now, but partnerships are not limited only to narrow short-term tasks."

"For example, cooperation with the Danish university of shipbuilding: now not only are they helping us, but our professors also go there to teach. I am trying to find these points of contact where it is beneficial for both countries or both communities, and it only works that way. Only when it is beneficial for both sides do these projects develop," Kim added.

He also spoke about plans to build housing for specialists from other countries who will come to Mykolaiv for reconstruction projects, as well as English-language schools for their needs.

"We have already identified sites where an industrial park is located and where there is a possible prospect for such development. The only issues are money and security: business needs to come in, invest in production and earn money," the regional administration’s head said.

Kim said relevant negotiations are underway with Novopecherska School, Kyiv School of Economics, and Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture.

"By the way, we are already building a specialized military lyceum, we have even found the funds, and it is being built by the State Special Transport Service. We will not have time to finish it this year; it will start operating in 2027. So we are moving forward, options for an English-language school have been worked out as well, and it is only a matter of time before this is implemented," he said.

Regarding school education in Mykolaiv region, the head of the regional administration said that underground schools have been operating in the region since 2022, even before the corresponding term appeared, and 100% of schools attended by children have shelters.

"This is the main condition for offline education. Overall, 82% of students in the region receive education in an in-person or mixed format. And this is exactly what international partners focused on in the first two years: they built shelters for educational institutions, especially where basements were not provided for in the designs," Kim said.
