Syrsky orders work on providing military with uniforms with Kevlar inserts
Commanders of combat units have asked Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Oleksandr Syrsky to consider the possibility of providing soldiers with uniforms with Kevlar inserts; the proposal was supported, AFU General Staff spokesman Dmytro Lykhoviy told Interfax-Ukraine.
"The Armed Forces of Ukraine are responding to new challenges of the war, in particular regarding the protection of servicemen. Commanders of combat units appealed to the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a request to consider the possibility of providing our soldiers with uniforms with Kevlar inserts. The proposal was supported. The commander-in-chief ordered the commander of the Logistics Forces to work on this issue," the spokesman said.
Lykhoviy said Kevlar in military clothing preserves a serviceman’s mobility, complements the standard bulletproof vest and covers unprotected areas of the body, providing an additional level of protection against fragments.
"Under current combat conditions, bullet wounds account for a minimal share. Instead, most wounds are fragment wounds, so additional anti-fragmentation protection is becoming a top priority," the General Staff said.
Thus, the spokesman stressed, given this, it was proposed to consider expanding the supply of uniforms and protective equipment with Kevlar inserts to AFU units, primarily of domestic production.
