Air defense neutralizes 142 of 163 drones overnight, hits recorded at 12 locations
Ukrainian air defense forces neutralized 142 enemy drones overnight on Saturday, but hits by 17 attack UAVs were recorded at 12 locations, along with debris from downed drones falling at two more sites, the press service of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has said.
"According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defense shot down/suppressed 142 enemy UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types in the north, south and east of the country," the AFU Air Force said on Telegram.
It is noted that on the night of May 2, from 18:00 on May 1, the enemy attacked with 163 Shahed-type attack UAVs, including jet-powered ones, Gerbera, Italmas and other types of drones from the directions of Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and Hvardiyske and Chauda in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea. About 100 of them were Shahed UAVs.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
