Ukraine favors constructive diplomatic dialogue with Hungary and is interested in establishing direct dialogue as soon as possible, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has said.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, Sybiha said Ukraine stands for constructive diplomatic dialogue with Hungary, "as should be the case between partners and neighboring states."

"Yes, we are interested in dialogue with our Hungarian partners. We believe that after the elections, a real window of opportunity has opened, as well as a window for intensifying the entire spectrum of bilateral relations," the minister said.

The foreign minister said contacts at the level of leaders are key in this context. Ukraine has also already spoken with its European partners after their contacts with Hungary's future leadership.

"We are ready to move forward. We are interested in establishing direct dialogue as soon as possible. We welcome all efforts related to setting up such dialogue and readiness for meetings. And these meetings will, of course, be determined through diplomatic channels at the places and times agreed by the parties," the minister said.

Asked whether there are already any agreements, Sybiha answered that there are not.

"Not at this stage," the foreign minister said.
