Since the beginning of 2026, Russia’s losses from Ukrainian long-range sanctions against its oil industry and refining have amounted to at least $7 billion, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.

According to the most modest estimates, Russia has lost at least seven billion dollars since the start of the year directly from precise sanctions against the Russian oil industry and refining, stemming from hits, downtime, and delays in shipments, the President wrote on his Telegram channel on Friday. Zelenskyy said that by the end of April, long-range sanctions reached a new level across three components: the reduction of Russian oil profits, distance, and the intensity of sanctions.

The President remarked that it is important that not only is the object itself reached as defined by the combat mission, but the downtime of the facility is increased or at least its operation is significantly reduced. Zelenskyy thanked all warriors of the Ukrainian Defense Forces who, together with the SBU and intelligence services, ensure this result. He also stated that they will scale up the direction of long-range systems and are preparing further decisions.
