Ukrzaliznytsia to launch full-fledged digital service for registering freight cars for repairs on May 1
Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) is launching a fully automated freight car repair distribution service as of May 1 to mitigate human error, improve rolling stock efficiency, and reduce downtime.
"In fact, from now on, the entire process—from repair planning to final payments—will take place online in a single system," UZ noted on its Facebook page.
The company explains that repairing railcars at its facilities requires three online stages, including the already established planning and contracting stage, where information on available capacity, rates, and conditions is published in the system, and the railcar owner submits an online application with an annual repair plan. The parties then conclude the contract online using a qualified electronic signature (QES).
In the second stage (application generation and repair), which began on May 1, the client makes an advance payment, submits an application independently, selecting the production unit to receive the service, and then the cars are sent for repair. All work is performed according to an automatically generated queue.
In the third stage (completion and settlement), after the repair, work completion reports and necessary documents are generated through the system, accompanied by an electronic signature. These become available in the customer’s online account, after which the final settlement occurs.
"Therefore, clients receive a completely digital process without paperwork: contracts, applications, repair tracking, and all payments are all in one service. A personal account is automatically created for each client, and contracts can be continued online," the note concludes.
