Culture Ministry grants critical status to eight enterprises in April – official
The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine in April granted eight enterprises, institutions, and organizations the status of being critically important for the functioning of the economy and ensuring the life of the population during a special period.
According to the Ministry of Culture orders for April 2026, the status was granted to B&H Film Distribution Company (B&H Classic Films LLC), Forbes online media (UYAVY! LLC), Ukrainian-Baltic distribution company Adastra Cinema (Adastra Cinema LLC), Ranok Publishing House LLC, and Forfilms LLC. Additionally, previously granted status was confirmed for Tabor LLC, PIK NGO, PUBLIKA RA LLC, and MEDIA CENTER VISTY LLC.
The status was also granted or confirmed for more than five cultural institutions, including the Samchyky and Medzhybizh state historical and cultural reserves, and the Directorate for the Construction of the Holodomor Victims Memorial State Enterprise.
On February 7, 2025, the Ministry of Culture approved new criteria for determining enterprises and organizations of significant importance to the national economy in the fields of culture and information. Earlier, between November and February, the Ministry granted critical status to a wide range of media outlets, publishers, and film industry representatives, including Wikimedia Ukraine, Slidstvo.Info, Knyharnya Ye, Radio NV, Dovzhenko Film Studios, and FILM.UA Group.
The Ministry also re-confirmed the status for numerous major media groups and channels, such as Inter,
ICTV
, Novy Kanal, STB, 1+1 Ukraine, Channel 5, and Pryamiy, as well as news agencies like Ukrinform and publications including Ukrainska Pravda and New Voice. Furthermore, status was provided or confirmed for over 95 theaters, philharmonics, circuses, museums, and educational institutions in the cultural sector.
In February, Tetyana Berezhna, Vice Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Minister of Culture of Ukraine, stated in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine that opportunities for abusing critical status and mobilization reservations in the culture and media sectors have been minimized during the full-scale Russia invasion.
