Ukraine will join the euro area when it is economically beneficial – official

Ukraine will join the euro area when it becomes economically advantageous for the country, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka has said.

"Our legal obligation is to prepare for entry into the euro area, but there are no obligations to join the euro area on the first day of accession to the European Union. This will happen when it is beneficial for the Ukrainian economy," Kachka said during the hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday.
