Man suspected of shooting in city centre detained in Odesa – police
Law enforcement officers detained a man suspected of shooting in the city centre, the National Patrol Police of Ukraine said.
"We detained a man who allegedly fired shots in central Odesa. We promptly arrived at the scene, established the suspect’s description and began searching the surrounding area," the Telegram statement said.
According to the report, police received a report of gunshots in one of the city’s residential areas yesterday evening. According to the complainant, an unknown man fired into the air near a playground and headed toward a neighbouring street.
The man matching the description was soon found and detained, police said.
"During a surface check, an object resembling a pistol loaded with blank cartridges was found on him. The man was also in a state of alcohol intoxication," the agency said.
An investigative task force was called to the scene and the weapon was seized for expert examination.
