Serviceman who opened fire on TCC employees and police officer detained in Rivne region
A 48-year-old serviceman who on April 29 opened fire on a service vehicle carrying territorial centre for recruitment employees and a police officer, hospitalizing two people with bodily injuries, has been detained in Rivne region, the Office of the Prosecutor General said.
"According to preliminary data, the man was traveling by bicycle. He stopped near the service vehicle in which TCC servicemen and a law enforcement officer were located, took an object resembling an automatic weapon from a bag and fired several bursts in the direction of the vehicle," the Telegram statement said.
Two people sustained bodily injuries from glass fragments as a result of the shooting and were hospitalized. Two other people in the vehicle were uninjured. The service vehicle sustained mechanical damage.
After the attack, the man fled the scene and went into hiding. Law enforcement officers established the identity of the attacker, who turned out to be a 48-year-old serviceman. He was tracked down and detained under Article 615 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine.
A suspicion notice is being prepared for the detainee on counts of attempted premeditated murder of two or more persons, as well as of a law enforcement officer in connection with the performance of his official duties, and desertion – part 2 of Article 15, points 1 and 8 of part 2 of Article 115, part 4 of Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Initial investigative actions are currently ongoing.
