Citizens of 48 countries who fought on the side of Russia are in captivity in Ukraine, reported Secretary of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War Brigadier General Dmytro Usov.

He stated this at an event presenting the report "Foreign Fighters in the Russian Army: How to Stop the Global Recruitment Scheme" on Wednesday.

"As of today, we have citizens of 48 countries represented in captivity. These are hundreds, not even dozens," Usov said.

According to him, the top seven countries with the most citizens represented are Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Nepal, and Kyrgyzstan.

The Coordination Headquarters also noted that the dynamics of foreigners being taken prisoner are increasing.
