Recently, Russian contingents in African countries have been increased by 8,000 people, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported following a report by the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Oleh Luhovsky.

"The third aspect – Russian contingents in African countries have recently been increased by an additional 8,000 people, and Russia is trying to implement the use of drones in every country of stay through supplies, local production and training," Zelenskyy said on Telegram on Wednesday.

According to the president, the expansion of such Russian military activity could inevitably lead to the modernization and strengthening of terrorist organizations, cross-border crime and instability in regions of the world that are critical from a migration perspective.

"It is important to counteract this together – we will coordinate with partners," he said.
