Ukraine tracking several more ships with stolen Ukrainian grain beyond Israel – MFA
Ukraine will react to all instances of agricultural products illegally exported by Russia from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine arriving in other countries, and this concerns more than just Israel, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi said during an online meeting with journalists.
"In the past there have been cases, and we even publicly reported on such cargoes as they approached Turkey, Egypt, Algeria, and some other countries. Currently, there are actually several vessels. As far as I know, one is approaching Egypt and another is heading toward Algeria," he said.
The MFA emphasized that they "see everything and will not leave it without attention." Tykhyi noted that Ukraine would react to every case. "This will not remain without a proper response," he assured.
The MFA spokesperson also commented on the issue of sanctions. Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine is preparing a sanctions package against individuals transporting grain stolen by Russia, as well as against physical and legal entities attempting to profit from such a criminal scheme.
"Regarding sanctions, you will see the relevant actions when the time comes. This involves legal procedures, but again, we have this legal dimension where we have both investigations by the Prosecutor General's Office and certain legal actions taken in courts and judicial proceedings. Within this framework, you will also see actions regarding sanctions," the spokesperson explained.
Tykhyi specifically emphasized that Ukraine maintains this approach not only toward Israeli companies, but toward anyone who "participates in illegal trade and effectively helps Russia finance its war efforts against Ukraine."
As reported, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Ukraine Michael Brodsky was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Tuesday, April 28, where he was handed a note of protest.
