Defense Ministry acknowledges food supply problems in several brigades, says such cases must not become systemic

2 min read

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has reported instances of insufficient food supplies to the positions of several brigades and is working with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to resolve the issue.

"Cases of insufficient food supply to remote positions in the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade, the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade, and the 108th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade must not become systemic. The Ministry of Defense is working with the General Staff on this matter. The situation in the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade is indicative: a Ground Forces commission is conducting an investigation, the brigade commander has been removed, and the culprits will be held accountable," the Ukrainian defense ministry reported on Telegram on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that "distorted reports on the combat situation will have direct negative consequences for officials."

As reported, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the removal of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade commander following a media scandal over a catastrophic supply situation.

The General Staff attributed the situation to significant logistical problems in the 14th Brigade's area of responsibility near Kupiansk, where Russia maintains intensive shelling. The General Staff added that the brigade command concealed the real state of affairs, leading to the decision for personnel changes.

The General Staff reports that an official investigation into the incident will be conducted, and those responsible will be punished. New appointments have also been decided.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky ordered group commanders and corps commanders to check the organization of logistical support for servicemen performing tasks on the front line by May 20. Additionally, the commander-in-chief ordered all measures to be taken to provide transport, evacuation means, ground robotic systems, and other equipment.
