Registration for NMT-2026 increases by 14% compared to last year, while numbers abroad decrease
About 368,774 people used the registration service for the national multi-subject test (NMT) during the main period from March 5 to April 2, and 355,371 people have already received registration confirmation and the ability to generate a certificate.
According to the website of the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment, current graduates make up the majority of participants at 252,034 people. Along with them, 103,337 graduates of previous years will take the exam.
In 2025, 312,490 people registered during the main period, and in 2024, 312,508. Thus, the number of registered participants this year is 13.7% higher than in the previous two years.
Testing in 2026 will be conducted in specially created temporary examination centers. In Ukraine, 336,827 participants will take the NMT, while 18,544 applicants currently abroad will participate. In 2025, about 20,000 people applied to take the NMT abroad; this year, their absolute and relative numbers have noticeably decreased.
NMT-2026 participants will complete tasks in three compulsory subjects—Ukrainian language, mathematics, and history of Ukraine—and one elective subject chosen during registration.
Foreign languages are the most popular elective: 112,064 participants chose English, 3,964 German, 336 French, and 217 Spanish. Geography is the second most popular with 110,801 participants, followed by biology (75,141) and Ukrainian literature (38,611). Physics and chemistry saw the fewest registrations at 11,222 and 3,015 people, respectively.
For applicants who studied in the languages of indigenous peoples or national minorities, the center provides task translations for mathematics, history, biology, geography, physics, and chemistry. This right was exercised by 518 people: 497 requested Hungarian, 18 Romanian, and 3 Polish.
"With the main registration stage successfully completed, participants should expect invitations in their personal accounts no later than ten calendar days before the start of the main NMT sessions. The invitation will indicate the exact date, time, and location of the exam. For security reasons, we do not publish information about where the tests will take place in Ukraine. We advise participants not to share this information," the report said.
The main NMT session began May 20 and will last until June 25. Participants will receive results by July 3.
An additional registration period for the 2026 sessions will run from May 11 to May 16, with a deadline to correct and resubmit documents by May 21. The additional session will take place July 17-24, with results expected by July 29.
