Court clears special probe into ex-MP Ivanyushchenko in 18-hectare land seizure case

The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has authorized a special (in absentia) pretrial investigation into former MP from the banned Party of Regions Yuriy Ivanyushchenko in a case involving the seizure of 18 hectares of land.

"On April 27, 2026, the HACC investigating judge supported the position of the prosecution and ruled to carry out a special pretrial investigation into a former Ukrainian MP from the Party of Regions," the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) said on Telegram on Tuesday.

While the SAPO statement does not name the former MP, it refers to Ivanyushchenko.

According to SAPO, the former MP is suspected of organizing the legalization of property obtained by criminal means, specifically nine land plots with a total value of over UAH 160 million.

The ruling entered into force upon its announcement, is final, and is not subject to appeal.

The anti-corruption prosecutor’s office clarified that in the spring of 2021, during a corporate conflict between the ex-MP and a developer over control of a wholesale agricultural market in a Kyiv suburb, the entrepreneur developed an intent to transfer the market’s assets to controlled legal and physical entities.

"After a series of actions aimed at leasing the land to a controlled company, these plots were sold to three companies associated with the developer based on sham transactions," the statement said.

SAPO noted that while resolving the conflict, the developer and the former MP signed a settlement agreement regarding the joint use of the land, including for construction. In September 2021, a proxy for the former MP became a beneficiary of the companies that owned the land plots.

As reported, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) put Ivanyushchenko on the wanted list on suspicion of legalizing 18 hectares of state land worth over UAH 160 million.
