Court finds head of occupation administration in Stara Zburivka guilty of collaboration – official
A resident of the occupied village of Stara Zburivka in the Kherson region who voluntarily became head of the occupation administration in June 2022 has been found guilty of collaborative activity, the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office said on Tuesday.
The woman formed the staff of the illegal government body, transferred seized village council property to Russia, and organized public events to promote the policy and symbols of Russia, according to the report. She also campaigned for residents to receive Russian passports and conducted house-to-house visits with Russian military personnel to pressure people into participating in illegal elections.
In April 2023, the convict was appointed head of the occupation "Holoprystan territorial election commission," where she organized illegal elections and presented credentials to fellow collaborators, the report said.
"The court sentenced her to 10 years in prison with a 15-year ban on holding positions in government bodies or institutions providing public services. The verdict was delivered in absentia. The term of punishment will be calculated from the moment of her actual detention," the prosecutor’s office said.
