Ukraine's TAF Industries and Finland's Summa Defence planning drone production joint venture in Finland
Ukrainian defense technology manufacturer TAF Industries and Finnish defense technology and security group Summa Defence signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a joint venture to develop industrial production capabilities in Finland.
According to a company’s press release posted on Monday, the memorandum was signed as part of the Build with Ukraine initiative, and the official signing took place during the TAF Industries Demo Day event in Kyiv region on April 24.
The aim of the cooperation is to jointly produce TAF Industries products in accordance with the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, using the production infrastructure and technological ecosystem of Summa Defence in Finland.
"Integration into the European defense ecosystem, along with providing additional supply capabilities to the Ukrainian Defense Forces, are key priorities for TAF Industries," TAF Industries CEO Volodymyr Zinovsky was quoted as saying in the release.
"By scaling up production of battle-tested Ukrainian technologies in Finland, we're not just increasing production – we're creating a sustainable defense ecosystem for both Northern Europe and Ukraine," Summa Defence co-founder Jussi Holopainen noted in a release.
As reported, TAF Industries and the German manufacturer Thyra signed a memorandum of strategic partnership in mid-April as part of the Build with Ukraine program for the production of interceptor drones in Germany. The partnership will include the creation of a joint venture for the serial production of TAF Kolibri i10 interceptor drones. Other areas of the partnership include the development of dual-use C-UAS solutions.
Ukrainian defense technology manufacturer TAF Industries produces over 30 types of defense products, including FPV drones and reconnaissance UAVs, electronic warfare systems, remote control solutions, and AI-powered combat technologies. FPV drone production reaches up to 80,000 units per month.
