Psychological, psychiatric assessment of Kyiv shooter to be conducted posthumously – Interior Minister
A posthumous psychological and psychiatric examination of the man who shot people in Kyiv on April 18 will be conducted as part of the investigation, Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said.
"As for his [the shooter's] condition, there will be a posthumous psychological and psychiatric examination, which should provide the answer," the minister told journalists in Kyiv on Monday.
At the same time, Klymenko added that judging by how the shooter acted and what he said, as well as by the information released by the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO), it could be assumed that the shooter had been "in a particular psychological state."
As reported, on April 18, an unidentified man opened fire in the street in Kyiv's Holosiyivsky district and took hostages in a shop. After an assault carried out by KORD rapid operational response unit of the National Police, the attacker was killed. According to law enforcement authorities, the shooting was carried out by a 58-year-old native of Moscow, a Ukrainian citizen who had previously lived in Bakhmut, Donetsk region, and later in Kyiv. According to the Interior Ministry, he used a registered weapon.
Seven people were killed in the shooting, and seven wounded remain in Kyiv hospitals.
